INTRODUCING BLACK IMPACT PROSTRATE CANCER CIC

ABOUT OUR CAUSE
Black men are 2-3 times more likely to develop Prostate Cancer than any other racial group and twice more likely to die compared to White males.

In our community, this is a real issue that poses a threat to Black families and the Black community as a whole. It affects 1 in 4 Black men which means that every one of us in the Black community knows or may know someone who has experienced it.
If we do not Educate, raise Awareness, Support and Empower the Black community in regards to Prostate Cancer, it will continue to be detrimental to the growth of our strong community.
OUR INTENT
Our primary goals are to slow the rate of increase in prostate cancer mortality and build community. We desire to see the mortality rate of prostate cancer in Black men fall to 0. This sounds like a very ambitious goal as we know it; but the lives of our Fathers, Grandfathers, Husbands, Sons and Brothers are worth it and we want to hit these targets with EASE.

EASE stands for:

-
Education: Targeting Black communities with information on the reality, risk and danger of late-stage prostate cancer and tests that can be done to detect it early.

-
Awareness and Advocacy: Highlighting that early detection can save lives through yearly PSA tests to identify prostate cancer early and take necessary action. We want to raise awareness and encourage action in Black men and their families about Prostate Cancer; through the destigmatisation of Prostate Cancer & men’s health in general. And influence policy changes that will enhance the health of Black men.

-
Support: Providing financial support to Black men undergoing treatment, and survivors; as well as supporting their families emotionally, financially and otherwise.

-
Empowerment: Through community, we aim to establish a strong, influential network that will encourage Black men to confidently establish conversations and exercise control over their health. Our community will provide emotional support for those who have detected this cancer, through the experiences of those who have fought and won the battle against prostate cancer and those undergoing treatment for it.

We hope you take this opportunity to support our vision and are greatly appreciative of any contribution you can make.

EASE can be easy with your support.
